In the Flow:

Mojave Desert Lava Fields

The Mojave Desert in California is the location of numerous lava fields, some created as recently as 12,000 years ago. Over the last few years, I explored as many of these fields as I could reach, ranging from the more famous cinder cones and lava tubes to unvisited backcountry sites only discovered through geological maps and Google Earth. I aimed to dwell physically and philosophically as much as possible in these spectacular landscapes of dynamic yet now frozen flows of lava.
