My research and projects are currently focused on the intertwining of geology, philosophy, and aesthetics. Practically, this means a deep obsession with rocks as objects of scientific investigation, foundations for critical thinking, and works of artistic beauty.
My book, Thinking with Stone: Deep Time in the San Rafael Swell, will be published by the University of Utah Press in 2026.
I am a professor of English at Santa Monica College. I have published articles in Contemporary Literature, Studies in American Fiction, Textual Practice, Arizona Quarterly, and Radical Philosophy.
